"A speaker created for anyone wanting to step into a world of
luxury without spending the big bucks, ELEV seamlessly blends sophisticated aesthetics with amazing sound quality, using exceptional materials and technology to bring a new level of elegance to your music listening. The ergonomically sculpted form ensures a comfortable grip in your hand making it ideal for listening on the go, unlike most portable speakers of this rectilinear shape. ELEV transforms sound projection into a statement of style, enhancing any space it’s used in."
The ELEV Speaker project resulted in the production of a looks-like scale model for a possible real-life product. Materials like beech and polyurethane foam were modelled and finished in a way that would give the appearance of commercially used plastics and metals. Though the project didn't result in a functioning sound device, I completed the full design process in terms of visual aesthetics and user interaction with the product.
After market research, I identified an opportunity for a speaker that was portable, rectilinear, and ergonomic. Through ideation sketches and models, I developed my ideas until I had a suitable design. I made use of the design proportions and anthropometrics to fine tune the form for a perfect user experience. To manufacture the product I used CAD / CAM technology as well as mechanical workshop tools to craft the materials into a looks-like model.
