This product was designed using elements from existing football launchers but also made use of a ball capture system similar to that on basketball practice machines. I combined these features to fill a market gap for football launchers that could be used when training alone as all existing products require another person to feed a ball into the machine for the person recieving the ball on the other end. By incorporating a net into the design, it allows the user to kick or throw the ball into the net which directly feeds into the machine to be launched back out to the player.
A modular design allows for easier storage, and the wide tires are suitable for transportation across rough outdoor terrain. The orange cover, is replaceable and customizable so that it is meets the aesthetic preferences of the player or club using it.
Once the user problem had been identified, I conducted research on existing products, end user opinions, material choices and more, before moving to the creative design stages of sketching, CAD rendering, and physical modelling. Throughout this whole design process, it was vital to allow potential clients to voice their opinions on designs and suggest ideas that they would ultimately want in a product. The manufacturing of the scale working model included 3D printing, painting, and electrical work, before the I received a final evaluation from clients in the sports field.
